Our goal is to provide support for parents and caregivers, enabling Walpole to provide safe and equitable opportunities for all children in special education.
The Walpole SEPAC serves as a vital support network for parents and caregivers. It aims to provide essential resources, information and educational opportunities on special education topics. The SEPAC will collaborate with the district to ensure that Walpole students receive appropriate education and support services.
The scope of the Walpole SEPAC is focused on
Providing representation and support for parents within the Walpole School District. Advocating and sharing questions and concerns directly with the Walpole School Administration. Advising the Special Education Administrator and School Committee on operations and development of special education programs, parent and teacher training needs.
Promoting a network of parents of children with disabilities and provide the forum to share information.
Working towards better understanding and communication between parents/guardians and school officials.
Progressing communication and programs within the community to encourage understanding, acceptance, and inclusion.
The Walpole SEPAC is a Special Education Parent Advisory Council. All school districts in MA are required by law to have a parent advisory council to advise the public schools on the education and safety of students with disabilities. School officials are mandated to meet regularly with SEPAC parent representatives to participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of school programs.
PAC guidelines in MA are published by the Massachusetts DOE
